Why can’t we have an election now? Isn’t it like if the party loses its majority in the parliament, the leader of that party can’t be prime minister any more? What’s holding the system against an election?

Without a Non Confidence vote, nothing will change. NDP so not have enough seats with the Conservatives to make that happen. The Bloc are more influential on this than the NDP.
