This refund function has actually been available on Canadian machines for a long time. This is not a loophole in the POS machine but a design flaw in the bank's app.

What is a POS machine? It's just a payment processing tool. The real vulnerability is in the payment processing software. It's recommended to sue the acquiring bank directly.
