The problem is Otario, basically Toronto area (because the rest of Ontario is almost nothing) might be facing toucher economic situation, plus government's heavy taxation, people find it is more and more difficulty to bear living here, eventaully no more people want to migrate to here, due to its notorious fame. On this point, the house market would experience a free fall. a real free fall, I estimate it to start to happen in 10 years. I have house here too, have fun.

not sure if my answer is right. i am also worring over the real estate makert in the next half of the year coz i just bought a house.
your question is: why do the US realty markets do down so sharply while US have more population but canada has more land?
canadian is not very creative but more conservative. it is not easy for an immigrants to find a job in canada but americans didn't need to worry about it some years ago. that is why many american people with say annual family income of US$100k dared to have up to 5 houses/condos/cottages( based on a news)--bigger bubbles in US but less bubbles in Canada.
if these is bubble in canada, it will be Alberta. if Alberta's bank/credit system has problem first, the rest is forseeable. Ontario has problems with manufacturing industry for many years, but immigrants support the real estate markets. This helps mediate the real estate issue in Ontario. unless new immigrants don't want to move to Ontario (or more precisely Toronto/Mississauga), the impact will not be big. Alberta will be a sign for canada coz it is more alike US in real estate market. however Ontario has its economic issues. this will be a gradual process downward.
it is wise to wait for some months before you buy a house. but when the chance is there, you can take it (like citibank stocks).

你说的对. 就象国内大户室的透支抄股票.但透支需有个度.
房产贷款也一样.多少收入贷多少歀.阿强先生有一张这样的表.但许多华人是满打满算,甚至假收入,这只能跑短线,一遇经济危机,失业,就原形毕露,这是房灾的原因.
