法国总统德斯坦 did said "mao's death extinguished a beacon of world thought". IMO, it's barely a compliment. It can be used on saddam hussein's death too.
let's face it, Mao's a dictator to them . I don't think they felt sad or sorry for his death. They were just pretending to be polite after all Mao did no harm to their countries.

It's fake, not what Ford said. Gerald R. Ford's remarks on Mao's death is kind of neutral:
Chairman Mao was a giant figure in modern Chinese history. He was a leader whose actions profoundly affected the development of his own country. His influence on history will extend far beyond the borders of China.
These remarks can be put on most of emperors in china history if not everyone of them.
And I don't believe 世界名人评价 you listed here.
