Thanks a lot for sharing with us your story! One thing that I wanted to share with our fellow readers is our Chinese way of life is part of Canadian culture. Sometimes, people say "this is Canada!" They mean their way of life. However, "this is Canada" also means our way of life. While learning popular Canadian customs, we should promote ours too. We are first gen immigrants but we are not forever visitors or guests. One of the most important Canadian values is diversity, which means respecting difference. We should be proud of showing our difference. The more you exhibit the difference, the less everyone will feel the difference. I wish everyone promote our culture and support/defend/interpret Canadian values.
I am surprised you can adapt to that.
I couldn't put up with that in last 10 years. I think that is crazy.
If each pay his/ her own bill, why bother go out together?
