Canadian property market might go down, but 50% looks far fetched. consider the following factors:
1.Canadian property tax is substantially lower than the USA and so as the carrying load;
2.the higher down payment requirement from the Canadian banks virtually eliminated NINJA candidates (NINJA no income, no job and no assets);
3. higher percentage of landlords rent out their properties to cover the carrying cost, or even making money from it. There are endless supply of renters in Toronto area. In USA, it is not very common or not as easy to rent out your home, except for New York city around China Town area.
