I think it is very possible. The parents were too busy doing business to discipline the boy, and the boy was spoiled. I guess the boy was a headache when he was in China with his parents. Parents are parents, they all think their kids are good, maybe they have some problems but not a big deal. On the other hand, kids know how to please their parents. They seem to be obey but actually not.
It was really a hard situation. I don't think that there was much he could do.

怀疑故事的真实性.他父母在国内是作生意的(不是贪官),并很成功,所以教养必定不会太差.对自几的儿子不会一点不知.更不说二子怎会养成这样.
若儿子真是这样,他父母一定会时时追问他品行方面的情况.若他父母真的没什么教养,又何必在乎儿子变成煞样呢.
