All well said here. Same I didn't vote for his party, but as a candidate, he is the best . He did lead NDP to be the best opponent party.

I didn't vote for NDP because I didn't agree with some of its policy. However, I must say Jack Layton is a great man, a true leader and fighter. I was so touching by the letter he wrote to the people before he passed away. I remember he had his cane with him all the time and always sweaty during speech in the campaign. I suppose the cancer cell had spread to his bone at that time. What an amazing person!
Let's share his spirit: Love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear. Optimism is better than despair. So, let us be loving, hopeful and optimistic. And we will change the world.

I agreed with you. When I read the letter he wrote before he died, I almost cry. What a pity that he couldn't be a leader of Canada.
If this was an announcement about Harper's passing, there would be cheers all around on this comment board. As much as I disliked his policies and politics, Layton was (almost) always a class act. I can appreciate the fact he spoke from the heart, even if I disagreed with his message. Godspeed to you, Mr. Layton. Your party will be right behind you.
