I agree with you. I donot like the way the writer said :"我家在大陆属普通的中产阶层，无权无势，回去很难有机会出人头地。” can she "出人头地" in Canada if she stays in Canada? It is not easy to become an outstanding person in any society. If the goal of her life is "出人头地", she will have a tough life at any place. Joyful and peaceful are the nice elements in our lives. how many of us immigrated to Canada because of no "出人头地" in China? I know many of Chinese from mainland are outstanding in their professional fields. Therefore I do not think it is the fact that China has no chance for the "出人头地". It depends who you are. Like this girl, It is not easy for her to become a middle class, not to mention to be "出人头地" in Canada.
