Facing a packed house, Toronto public school board trustees chose to delay start-up of their controversial Chinese government-backed Confucius Institute Wednesday night, potentially making it an issue in this fall’s school board election.“I am not comfortable with it. I am not comfortable with a relationship with an organization that causes such an outcry from our community,” said Etobicoke-Lakeshore trustee Pamela Gough, who referred to the relationship agreed to by the board as “unprecedented.”
