这个新闻上播过,是这个移民部长召集这些企业,要求他们捐款。典型的逼捐行为。
让我们看看新闻报道:
Immigration Minister John McCallum recently asked businesses to donate a total of $50-million – or $2,000 a refugee – to help ease the arrivals into their new lives.“It’s an aggressive target, but I think it’s a realistic target,” Mr. McCallum said after announcing the goal earlier this month to a room of 50 business leaders, who gave him a standing ovation. However, the weak Canadian economy and unstable labour market pose potential challenges to corporate generosity.Although the country’s gross domestic product rebounded in the third quarter to show modest annualized growth, economists expect that low commodity prices, stretched consumers and slumping business spending will weigh on economic activity in the year ahead.Employment growth is also slow. According to Statistics Canada, 35,700 jobs were lost in November, pushing the unemployment rate to 7.1 per cent, up from 6.6 per cent at the start of the year.Even many of the big banks, which recently reported strong annual profits, have been trimming their payrolls as they confront slowing revenue growth.Meeting Mr. McCallum’s target will also require companies to continue giving beyond the holiday season.
显然这些企业为了完成捐款任务,只好降低雇员工资。
目前离他的5千万的捐款目标还差很多!估计这些企业下一年还要继续“被捐款”。
