The political and media establishment gave Rob Ford no respect while he was alive. The least we can do is honour him now, by renaming the Etobicoke Civic Centre, the “Rob Ford Civic Centre”.
Ford wouldn’t have wanted a flashy state funeral, like Jack Layton got. It wasn’t Rob's style — and he wouldn’t have wanted tax dollars spent that way.
But renaming the Etobicoke Civic Centre? Perfect.
Even people who didn’t vote for Rob Ford can acknowledge that he loved to serve the City of Toronto. Let’s remember that, and honour a husband and a father who died too young.
