7月24日报道，当地时间7月24日，东京奥运会倒计时一周年，奥运会奖牌设计在东京国际论坛上揭晓。

此前东京奥组委表示，已经收集、提炼完成了5000枚明年奥运会和残奥会奖牌所需的再生金属。

日本政府呼吁国民广泛参与其中，捐出不用的旧手机和家电。收集活动从2017年4月开始。到2019年3月为止，各地方政府收到了近8万吨捐赠物品。

采用从废旧手机等小型电子设备中提炼出的金属来制作奖牌，是奥运史上的首次尝试。
