I'm a natural-born Chinese-Canadian and I can't speak Chinese. However, I fully support China and her government. My wife and I have visited China many times over the past 20 years and I know China well.
I've been to Xinjiang and I know that there is no genocide of any kind there. It is absolutely clear that none of our parliamentarians who voted for the proposal have been to Xinjiang. So where are they getting their information from? Why, from the ignorant and bigoted Western media, of course.
Anybody who bothers to visit Xinjiang (and there are millions of foreign visitors every year) would see that Uyghur culture is flourishing. They would see mosques everywhere and Uyghur street signs. They would see Uyghur children playing in the streets and pregnant Uyghur women. If China is committing genocide, then she is doing a really terrible job of it.
Look at Chinese paper currency. There is Uyghur script in the top right corner! China respects Uyghur culture.
Look at Xinjiang population statistics. The Uyghur population has doubled in the past 40 years. Year after year, the Uyghur population grows, this year to over 12 million. What kind of genocide is this???
Western media is lying to us. We are putting too much faith and trust in our media. Consequently, we have been fooled and manipulated into believing all this genocide nonsense. Shame on us!
