在美国期中选举即将于11月8日举行前，总统拜登今天宣布自战略石油储备（SPR）释出行动中，释出最后一批1500万桶原油至市场，以降低油价。

路透社报导，拜登在白宫宣布这项释储计画，并称：“这将让我们得以迅速采取行动，防止油价飙升，并因应国际事件。”

此前，美国汽油平均价格一度飙破每加仑5美元，引发民怨四起，尽管价格后来平缓下来，通膨居高不下仍然是可能导致共和党在11月期中选举击败民主党的最大因素。

据分析，对拜登而言，这有着重大的内政考量。批评者痛批，拜登此举是为了赢得期中选举。
