安省旅游局10月5日枫叶颜色变化报告

根据安省旅游局10月5日最新出炉的枫叶颜色变化报告,安省大部分地区的枫叶将于加拿大的感恩节周末达到最佳赏枫时段(PEAK)。

北部地区

安省北部很多地区的枫叶已经渐入佳境,约80%的枫叶已经变色:西北部Kenora 为80%、Fort Frances 地区为90%,Thunder Bay 地区甚至已经达到90%以上;枫叶大多变成诱人的金色和黄色,其中点缀有醒目的红色;11号与17号公路沿线直到 Kakabeka Falls均可以欣赏到色彩斑斓的枫叶景观。

North Bay 沿11号公路的枫叶已经变成深红与橘黄,已到最佳赏枫阶段,开车从North Bay 沿11号公路到Huntsville 不失为一个很好的赏枫路线。Sudbury 地区的枫叶有40 - 50%变色,以亮丽的黄色和斑点状红色为主。

作为加拿大最著名的赏枫地点,过去几周以来,Algonquin省立公园的枫叶变色较快,目前已经达到最佳赏枫时段:美不胜收的红色、法国伯根地红色、橙色以及黄色的枫叶在60号公路走廊已经占据主导地位。但观赏Algonquin公园枫叶最理想地点应该是公园内世界级接待中心的观景台。

中部地区

在 Parry Sound 和白求恩故乡 Muskoka 已经开始见到很美的枫叶,整体而言大约65% 到 80% 的枫叶已经变成明亮的橙色和红色。在附近地区乘船赏枫显然是一个绝妙的主意,层林尽染、水天一色的景致一定让您大饱眼福。

Barrie、Orillia、Midland 直到Wasaga Beach 地区估计50-60%的枫叶已经变色;在Barrie东北面的Horseshoe Valley 看到很美的枫叶,感恩节周末预计会达到最佳赏枫时段。

东部地区

在Ottawa 地区,85% 的枫叶开始变成深黄色和橘黄色,其中也点缀有亮丽的红色,沿Rideau Canal 运河步行或是骑单车旅行也可以尽情领略沿途美景。在渥太华与多伦多的之间的Kingston 到更东一点的Cornwall,大概60-65%的枫叶开始变色。

随后几周,如果驾车沿512、514和64号公路游览,将是一个很不错的选择;而千岛湖(1000 Island )就更不用说了,乘船赏枫无疑是最佳方式。

估计到感恩节周末,上述地区就达到最佳赏枫时段。

南部地区

尼亚加拉瀑布地区的枫叶有20-30% 开始变色,但目前的主题色调仍然是绿色,其间点缀有黄色和橘黄。从安省著名旅游小镇Niagara on the Lake 到Fort Erie传统上一直是深受人们喜爱的赏枫景点。

大多伦多地区西部大概60% 的枫叶已经变色,东部达到65%,而市中心地带也有40% 枫叶开始变黄或是泛红。

The Colours will “PEAK” in many areas of Ontario this Thanksgiving Holiday weekend!!!

Northern Ontario Region

The north-western region of the province is offering some wonderful colour with an 80% colour change in the Kenora region featuring subdued colours of yellow and orange with some pockets of vibrant red. Fort Frances is reporting a 90% colour change, mainly yellow with some red in the sumacs. The Thunder Bay area has seen the colour now advance to a 90 to 100% change with various shades of yellow, and about 15-20% leaf fall. The route along Highway 11 and 17 towards Kakabeka Falls is offering excellent colour. In the Sault Ste. Marie area, the colours have now passed peak with 40% leafall The Agawa Canyon Tour Train adventure out of Sault Ste. Marie, offers an outstanding fall colour outing in the Algoma region. The colours are now still very nice but just past peak in the canyon area, with about 25% leaf fall. The tour train is extremely popular and runs through October 13th. It is always best to book your tour and accommodation well in advance of your visit to the area.

The Manitoulin Island region has seen the colours advance to a 70 to 80% change with dominant colours being red, orange, yellow and some brown with green for contrast. Highway 6 from South Baymouth to the junction of Highway 542 is a nice fall colour drive. There continues to be nice pockets of colour around Mindemoya. We now have an 80% colour change in the far north east in the Temagami region with bright yellow being the dominant colour. The Temagami Tower lookout offers an outstanding panoramic view.

The North Bay area is now reporting PEAK colour along Highway 11 with deep reds and oranges spectacular at this time. Hwy 11, north of the city is very close to peak, colours are spectacular with bright reds and oranges. The drive from North Bay to Huntsville along Highway 11 is excellent for fall colour viewing. The Sudbury region is reporting a 40 - 50% colour change with areas of bright yellow and some reds. The A.Y Jackson Lookout on Highway 144 north of Sudbury offers a wonderful view. Killarney Provincial Park, along the shore of Georgian Bay, reports the colour has advanced to about a 70% change, with 10-19% leafall. The Granite Ridge Trail, in the park, offers some nice fall colour viewing.

Algonquin Provincial Park is an extremely popular fall colour destination. The colour has advanced quickly over the last week and is now at PEAK . Magnificent reds, oranges, yellows and burgundies dominant the Highway 60 corridor. An ideal viewing location, during the fall colour period in Algonquin Park, is the view from the observation deck at the world class visitor centre. Hardwood Trail, Booth’s Rock and Lookout Trail offer just a few of many spectacular views in the park. Ragged Falls, just off highway 60 outside the west gate of the Algonquin also offers an ideal viewing location.

Central Ontario Region

The Parry Sound and Muskoka regions are starting to see some good fall colour with a 65 to 80% change at this time with some beautiful areas of bright orange and red with 25-30% leafall. A boat cruise of these areas is a wonderful way to enjoy the fall colours. Views from the observation decks at the fire tower lookouts at Parry Sound and Dorset are outstanding in the fall, along with the Lion’s Lookout in Huntsville.

Highway 117 from Bracebridge across to Baysville offers some nice colour now. The Haliburton area has advanced to an 80% change, with the drive along Highway 35 always incredible during the fall. Buttermilk Falls, along Highway 35, north of Minden is an excellent viewing location. Highway 118 in the Carnarvon area always offers some good fall colour as well. The Kawartha Lakes region is reporting PEAK colour change. Highway 121 off Highway 35 is offering some beautiful colour at this time.

The Barrie, Orillia, Midland and across to Wasaga Beach area is showing a 50 - 60% colour change. The Horseshoe Valley region, north east of Barrie is offering some outstanding pockets of colour with bright reds, yellows and oranges. Colours expect to peak over the Thanksgiving weekend. The two hour South Simcoe Fall Colour Train Excursions out of the Tottenham area continue over the next couple of weekends with the final trip featured on October 14th. The Collingwood area offers some ideal fall colour viewing locations especially around the Scenic Caves. The area is reporting a 70% change. The view from the suspension bridge at Scenic Caves, at the top of Blue Mountain, is always incredible but especially nice during the fall.

Ottawa Region

The Ottawa region reports an 85% colour change at this time with lots of bright yellows, reds and oranges. A walk or bike ride along the Rideau Canal and the many parkland areas of Ottawa offers an excellent fall colour experience.

Eastern Ontario Region

The colour is close to PEAK now in the Pembroke area across to Renfrew to Arnprior and into the Ottawa Valley region, with lots of bright oranges, reds and yellows. This Thanksgiving weekend will be outstanding for fall colour touring in this area. Nice driving areas over the next few weeks include Hwys 512, 514 and County Road 64. A fall colour drive along the 1000 Island Parkway or a boat cruise through the 1000 Islands is always popular during the fall season. The Prince Edward County is reporting PEAK and the region east to Kingston and further east to Cornwall is reporting 60-65% with beautiful red tamarack trees and lots of yellow and orange.

South-western Ontario Region

There is a 75-80% colour change in the Owen Sound region with reds, golds, yellows with ideal fall colour locations over the next couple of weeks being Inglis Falls and Harrison Park. The drive north of Owen Sound on Grey County Road 1 between Owen Sound and Wiarton is always nice during the fall. The Beaver Valley region south of Thornbury has about a 40% colour change with muted reds, oranges and yellows. Hockley Valley, east of Orangeville the colour has advanced to 75% with 15-20% leafall. Colours are most orange, red with a splash of gold. This weekend will be PEAK in the Hockley Valley Region. There are several excellent lookout locations in the Beaver Valley as you approach the village of Kimberley from the south on Grey County Road 13. Continuing on Grey County 13 to Thornbury is very nice as well. In the Hockley Valley region, Dufferin County Road 7 and the 3rd line of Mono offers a great fall colour drive.

The Forks of the Credit Provincial Park, Belfountain and the Caledon areas offer beautiful walking trails and are always popular fall colour destinations. The colour change is approximately 70% with dark oranges and burgundies. Old Base Line Road, Hwy 10 and Charleston Sideroad are also nice viewing areas. The Elora and Fergus area is reporting some very nice colour especially around the Elora Gorge area, with shots of red with about 20% leafall. The Royal Botanical Gardens in the Burlington and Hamilton regions is reporting a 40% colour change with muted yellows and some oranges. The region along the eastern shoreline of Lake Huron in the Goderich, Bayfield region has seen the colour advance to a 50-60% colour change. Muted rusts and yellows are the dominant colours with some splashes orange. There is a 25% colour change in the Sarnia region, mostly yellow with some oranges and reds are starting to come out. There is just a 5% colour change in the Essex, Kingsville and Point Pelee areas.

Niagara Falls Region

There is a 20 - 30% colour change in the Niagara Peninsula. The colours are subdued with pockets of burnt orange, yellow and still lots of green. The Niagara Parkway from Niagara on the Lake through to Fort Erie is always a very popular fall colour location, especially the view to the north along the Niagara River from the Brock Monument lookout at Queenston.

Great Toronto Region

There is a 60% colour change in the west area with lots of muted yellows some oranges and reds. Downtown area about 40% change with bright yellows reds and oranges, in the east there is a 60-70% change, mostly subdued yellows and oranges and in the north area 50% change with bright yellow, orange and red.
