安省旅游局10月16日枫叶颜色变化报告

根据安省旅游局10月16日即时更新的枫叶颜色变化报告,安省北部很多地区的赏枫季节基本结束。尽管某些区域可以看到色彩缤纷的秋景,但中部、东部地区最佳赏枫时段业已过去。南部和大多地区的枫叶仍然还颇有看头。

北部地区

安省北部很多地区的赏枫季节已经基本结束,尤其是西北部Kenora 、Fort Frances 地区以及Thunder Bay 等地区,这里的枫叶大多已经凋零,只能看到残留的小块金色和黄色; Manitoulin Island 地区的枫叶则在秋风秋雨的吹袭之下飘落殆尽。

North Bay 、Sudbury 地区的亮丽景色今不如昔,40-50%的枫树叶已经落叶。但Sudbury 北面的The A.Y Jackson Lookout 沿144 公路却仍然可以欣赏到相当不错的秋景。

作为加拿大最著名的赏枫地点,Algonquin省立公园的的情况也相差无几,大量枫叶随风飘零,最佳赏枫时段基本结束,仅在60号公路走廊才难得一见块状黄色和金色的枫叶。

中部地区

从 Parry Sound 到白求恩故乡 Muskoka也有近一半枫叶飘落,但仍有不少地方值得一看,但整体而言,最佳赏枫时段业已过去。

Barrie、Orillia、Midland 直到Wasaga Beach 地区40%的树叶已经飘落,但Collingwood 地区,尤其Scenic Caves 周围,仍然能够看到很美的枫叶,而爬到Blue Mountain 的顶部,更能欣赏到令人难以置信的枫叶景观。


东部地区

Ottawa 地区已经过了最佳赏枫时段,近40%的枫叶飘落,不过在有些地方仍然可以看到黄色、橘黄色,其中点缀亮丽的红色的枫叶景观,沿Rideau Canal 运河步行或是骑单车旅行可以尽情领略沿途美景。

从Pembroke 经Renfrew、Arnprior 到Ottawa Valley,其黄金赏枫时段刚刚过去,近一半枫叶飘落,有些地方的枫叶变成亮黄色、橘黄色以及红色;在渥太华与多伦多的之间的Kingston 到更东一点的Cornwall,枫叶变化不是特别明显,颜色也谈不上亮丽悦目。

南部地区

尼亚加拉瀑布地区的枫叶有40% 开始变色,有黄色和橘黄但目前仍以绿色为主色调。从安省著名旅游小镇Niagara on the Lake 到Fort Erie传统上一直是深受人们喜爱的赏枫景点。

大多地区大概85% 的枫叶已经变色,以黄色和鲜红为主;多伦多往北直到York Region也有85%枫叶变色,以深黄、橘黄和红色占主导;但上述地区的落叶也日渐增多。

Northern Ontario Region

The fall colour season has now come to an end in Kenora, Fort Frances and Thunder Bay area. There aresome very small pockets of yellow and gold remaining. In the Sault Ste. Marie area, the season is coming toan end as well with 90% leaf fall. The Manitoulin Island region has significant leaf fall due to high windsand rain. There are still some small areas of dull gold and yellow remaining.

The North Bay area has thecolours well past peak with 50% leaf fall. There are some small pockets of deep yellow, orange and redremaining. The Sudbury region is reporting a 40% leaf fall at this time. There are areas of bright yellowfrom the poplar and birch trees. The A.Y Jackson Lookout on Highway 144 north of Sudbury offers awonderful view.

Algonquin Provincial Park is an extremely popular fall colour destination however wenow have 80 to 90% leaf fall. The Highway 60 corridor is offering some small areas of yellow and gold.

Central Ontario Region

The Parry Sound region across to Muskoka sees the fall colour season winding down with close to 50%leaf fall. There are some small areas of bright red, yellow and orange remaining. Views from the observationdecks at the fire tower lookouts at Parry Sound and Dorset are outstanding in the fall, along with the Lion’sLookout in Huntsville. The Haliburton area has the colour now past peak with about 40% leaf fall in thearea. Buttermilk Falls, along Highway 35, north of Minden is an excellent viewing location during the fallcolour season. The Kawartha Lakes region is reporting about 75% leaf fall. There are still some areas ofmuted yellow and orange remaining.

The Barrie, Orillia, Midland and across to Wasaga Beach area isshowing the remaining colours generally dull with about 40% leaf fall. The Horseshoe Valley region, northeast of Barrie is still offering some small pockets of colour. The Collingwood area offers some ideal fallcolour viewing locations especially around the Scenic Caves. The area is reporting the remaining colourgenerally dull at this time with 25% leaf fall. The view from the suspension bridge at Scenic Caves, at thetop of Blue Mountain, is always incredible but especially nice during the fall.

Ottawa Region

The Ottawa region reports the colours now past peak with about 40% leaf fall in the area. There are stillsome nice areas of yellow, orange and red remaining. A walk or bike ride along the Rideau Canal and themany parkland areas of Ottawa offers an excellent fall colour experience.

Eastern Ontario Region

The colour is well past peak in the Pembroke area across to Renfrew to Arnprior and into the OttawaValley region, with 50% leaf fall. There are patches of orange, red and yellow remaining. Nice driving areasover the next couple of days include Highways 512, 514 and County Road 64. A fall colour drive along the1000 Island Parkway is always popular during the fall season.

The Prince Edward County area is reportingthe colours well past peak with about 50% leaf fall. The region east to Kingston and further east toCornwall is reporting the remaining colours are dull and there is a 40% leaf fall.

South-western Ontario Region

The Owen Sound region reports the colour is now well past peak with considerable leaf fall. Inglis Falls andHarrison Park in the Owen Sound area still offer patches of red, gold and orange. The drive north of OwenSound on Grey County Road 1 between Owen Sound and Wiarton is always nice during the fall. TheBeaver Valley region south of Thornbury reports the colours now well past peak with muted brown, red andyellow remaining. Hockley Valley, east of Orangeville is reporting about 40% leaf fall with some areas ofdull orange and yellow. There are several excellent lookout locations in the Beaver Valley as you approachthe village of Kimberley from the south on Grey County Road 13. In the Hockley Valley region, Dufferin County Road 7 and the 3rd line of Mono offers a great fall colour drive.

The Forks of the Credit ProvincialPark near Belfountain offers beautiful walking trails The Elora and Fergus area is reporting the fall colourseason is coming to an end with 90% leaf fall. The Royal Botanical Gardens, in the Burlington andHamilton regions is reporting a 50% colour change with muted yellows and some oranges. However thereis considerable leaf fall in the area as well. The area along the eastern shoreline of Lake Huron in theGoderich, Bayfield region has seen the colour advance to a 90% colour change. There is some leaf fall inthe area. Muted rusts and yellows are the dominant colours with some splashes of orange. There is a 30%colour change in the Sarnia region, mostly yellow with some splashes of orange and red. There is just a 10% colour change in the Essex, Kingsville and Point Pelee areas.

Niagara Falls Region

There is a 40% colour change in the Niagara Peninsula. The colours are subdued with pockets of burntorange, yellow and still lots of green. The Niagara Parkway from Niagara on the Lake through to Fort Erie is always a very popular fall colour location, especially the view to the north along the Niagara River from theBrock Monument lookout at Queenston. The country roads through the wine region of the Peninsula areoffering some nice colour as well at this time.

Greater Toronto Region

There is an 85% colour change in Toronto area with lots of muted yellows along with some orange andbright red. In the north Toronto area and further north into the York Region there is also an 85% changewith bright yellow, orange and red being the dominant colours. These areas are starting to see considerableleaf fall as well.
