==============报导原文如下=============== Horrific x-ray shows parasite WORM stuck inside man's foot for YEARS St. Vincent's Hospital Makes you squworm: Dead parasite was found in two pieces This x-ray shows a centimetres-long parasitic worm found inside a man's foot in Australia - and which is thought to have been there for years. Doctors in Melbourne found the African guinea worm, which was in two pieces and thought to have eventually died, when the man visited them due to an abscess on his foot. While not infectious, the worm has a unique trick to spread the condition: once inside the body, the parasite's larvae burrow into the stomach and cause the victim's feet to burn intensely. Infectious diseases expert Dr Jonathan Darby explains: “People want to put their feet into water to relieve the pain. “It uses that trick to release larvae in the water, which turns into water fleas that are then ingested by people drinking unsafe water.” The larvae develop into fully-grown worms and burrow through the intestines then down into the legs, where they try to emerge through the skin - leading to blisters or ulcers. They can grow to great lengths. The 38-year-old migrant moved to Australia from Sudan four years ago. As the worm is typically found in Southern Sudan, Ethiopia, Ghana and Chad, doctors at St Vincent’s Hospital in Melbourne believe it had been inside him for years. "That whole process can take years. It can sit inside the human body alive for years or die, degenerate, and then cause problems in the area like it did for our patient," Dr Darby told the Sydney Morning Herald. He said that in developing countries, live worms are pulled from people's exit wounds over days or weeks 。 "If you Google it, you'll find some fairly dramatic photos of people getting matchsticks and twirling their worm out a centimetre per day." The case was examined in medical journal Pathology.
