福特：对安省教育政策的谣言太多 让我解释解释

昨日，安省学生纷纷走出课堂，证实他们对于将来教育路程的密切关心。对此，我们政府表示尊重，但也希望在此解释并纠正一些关于我们教育政策的谣言及错误信息。

在安省我们有一个教学系统的问题，而且这并不于班级人数或政府开支的改变有关。

我们主要问题是一个无可救药的教学系统在辜负我们的学生。 目前全省一半多6年级学生数学水平达不到省内标准。这就是为何我们提出并且通过第48号法案，要求所有新教师必须通过统一数学测试来得到他们的教学许可证书。

而且，这更是为何我们将要求所有安省教育系统范围内的教师每年必须通过年度数学测试来得到相应的教学证明，正是因为只有采取这种措施，才能够保证老师们有足够的水平及资格来给他们的学生打造基础，为竞争强烈的未来劳动市场做好准备。

然而教师工会只想确保他们的自身利益，当我们在努力解决教学系统15年以来的根源问题，他们趁机在散播我们教育政策的谣言及错误信息，误导群众。

我们理解教师的苦难，但我们更不能丢下安省下一代的学生，特别是在提高他们的基本数学技能，帮助他们为未来高科技及STEM之类的工作做要准备。

老师是收薪水的，而且他们是要保证当我们的孩子毕业时，孩子们将会拥有在21世纪能够成功就业的数学技能。我们会对此达成承诺，保证将他们毕业时一定会拥有市场所需要的数学技能。

这次，家长是与我们站在一起。

在咨询72000安省省民之后，我们发现安省家长普遍在额外花销及使用他们自己宝贵的时间来确保自己家的孩子打造良好的数学基础。

按照我们目前来的教师薪水花费，这种教学责任及义务是不应该托给家长的。我们正在采取措来施解决这个问题。

自由党提出的“Discovery Math”课程

长久以来，世界各地的人民一直把安省的教育系统当成全世界最高的标准。

但是，我们的学生在落后。他们并没有被正确地教导过数学，正是因为之前一个前任自由党政府带进来的教学课程“Discovery Math”。

而且，这种教学方案造成的结果令人惊慌。

我们亲眼目睹在5年里，小学生数学成绩的连续下降。

今日，只有61%的三年级学生及49%的六年级学生才达到省内标准。

超过一半的六年级学生数学水平达不到省内标准。

超过40%的家长反映说他们在课外花钱给孩子们提供补助。

我们有义务责任做得比这个要好。

福特省长和我们保守党团队早已发过承诺 --- 解决数学课程的问题，而且这正是我们在实行的承诺。

从今年秋季学期开始，我们将会启动4年的数学策略。我们会保证教师得到所需要的培训，而且将会授权给学生，让他们每日解决日常问题，为未来的工作做好准备。

我们会回到基础数学，取消已失败的“Discovery Math”课程。

原文：We have a problem in the education system and it’s not about class sizes or money.

The problem is our broken system is failing our students. More than half of Grade 6 students are failing math standards. That’s why we passed Bill 48, which will require all new teachers to pass math tests to receive their professional certification.

And that’s also why it makes sense to consider requiring all current teachers within Ontario’s education system to receive mandatory, annual certification in math. It makes sense to ensure they have the tools to prepare our students for an increasingly competitive workforce.

The teachers’ unions want to spread misinformation about our plans to fix problems in the education system that were 15 years in the making.

We understand the difficult job teachers have. What we won’t do is allow another generation of students gets left behind when it comes to math skills that are critical for the tech and STEM jobs of the future.

Teachers are paid to ensure our kids graduate with the math skills they need for 21st century jobs. We’re going to ensure they do.

Parents are with us on this.

After consulting with over 72,000 Ontarians we found that parents are spending their own time and money on making sure their children are successful in math.

When we spend as much as we do on teachers’ salaries, it’s not right to put that responsibility on parents. We are taking steps to fix this problem.

Liberal’s “Discovery Math”

People from around the world have long looked to Ontario as a beacon for the best education system in the world.

But, our students are falling short. They haven’t been properly taught math because of a program brought in by the Wynne Liberals called the “Discovery Math”.

And the results are alarming.

We have seen a five year slide in math scores among elementary students.

Today, only 61% of Grade 3 students, and only 49% of Grade 6 students meet the provincial standard.

Over half of Grade 6 students are failing to meet the provincial standard in Math.

Over 40% of parents report spending money on math support outside of the classroom.

WE HAVE TO DO BETTER.

Doug Ford and our PC Team have promised to fix the math curriculum, and that’s exactly what we are doing.

Starting this fall, we’ll be launching our new four year math strategy. We will make sure teachers are properly trained, and we will empower students to solve everyday problems to prepare them for the jobs of today and tomorrow.

We will get back to the basics of fundamental math, and eliminate the failed “Discovery Math” program.
