安省教育厅公布小学禁售垃圾食品名单

安省教育厅长甘迺迪定于今天公布,将禁止在省内小学出售的垃圾食品详细名单。

省政府和营养学家共同合作,制定出小学生的食品指导原则,列出禁止在学校出售的食品名单,并用更有营养的食品去代替。

在本月的早些时候,甘迺迪说,他将采取行动,制止小学里的自动售卖机贩卖垃圾食品,因为并非所有的地方教育局都自动采纳该项建议。

在去年秋天,甘迺迪说他希望到今年新学年开始时,所有省内小学能禁止出售垃圾食品。但是,在安省的 72 个教育局里,仍然有数十个没有遵守这个要求。

他说,他并没有计划禁止高中也不能出售垃圾食品,因为大一点的学生可以离开校园去购买他们的午饭和快餐。

Alternative: When you want a chocolate bar, grab one that has a fruit filling, which usually contain no more than 250 calories and 10 grams of fat. Number 9 Candy Candy that contains nuts and/or chocolate is the most threatening to your six-pack. Just one serving of chocolate-covered peanuts contains 235 calories and 16 grams of fat. Alternative: Why satisfy your sweet tooth with these when a lot of candy is fat-free? One serving of Gummy Bears, for instance, contains only 140 calories and 0 grams of fat. But remember that they are pure sugar, so don't go crazy. Number 8 Cookies Once again, any cookies with peanut butter, nuts and/or "double" anything are your worst choice. Just two generic peanut butter cookies contain 200 calories and 11 grams of fat. Alternative: Satisfy your inner cookie monster with two Dad's Oatmeal cookies, which contain 164 calories and 5 grams of fat, or a couple of Fig Newtons, which have 142 calories and 2 grams of fat. Number 7 Chips When you need that greasy, salty fix, try to avoid Ruffles and Lay's (unless it's Baked Lay's, which have 1.5 grams of fat per ounce) as these contain 160 calories and 10 grams of fat per serving. Alternative: Instead, opt for Doritos, which contain 145 calories and 7 grams of fat per serving. If you want to be really good, reduced fat Cape Cod chips taste amazing and have only 6 grams of fat per serving. Number 6 Breakfast fix There's a reason why the Pillsbury Doughboy has that spare tire; just one Toaster Strudel contains 187 calories and 8 grams of fat. Alternative: Try having two Eggo pancakes instead, as these have 175 calories and 5 grams of fat. Haagen-Dazs may be your favorite ice cream, but have you ever dared to read the label? Check it out Number 5 Ice Cream As you may have guessed, anything that contains extra toppings like candy bars or cookies spells trouble. For instance, just half a cup of Haagen-Dazs Extraas Caramel Cone Explosion contains 331 calories and 22 grams of fat. Alternative: You're much better off having plain ice cream, such as Breyer's All Natural Vanilla, which contains 142 calories and 8 grams of fat. Number 4 Pizza An individual McCain Rising Crust Deluxe Pizza contains about 1,000 calories and 42 grams of fat. Scary. Alternative: Opt for pizza with a thinner crust and packed with vegetables instead, such as Pizza Hut's Veggie Lover's Thin 'N Crispy Pizza, which has 360 calories and 14 grams of fat in two slices. Number 3 French fries A small serving of McDonald's french fries has 227 calories and a whopping 11 grams of fat. Alternative: Try taking that extra step and making your own at home. McCain Homefries have 175 calories and 6 grams of fat per serving. Number 2 Cake Cakes and pies with nuts, cheese and/or cream are the worst choices. One slice of cheesecake with strawberry topping contains 440 calories and 28 grams of fat. Alternative: Opt for something plain instead, such as Angel Food cake, which has only 150 calories and is fat-free. Number 1 Hamburger Again, less is more. Anything with cheese, sauces and extras is to be avoided. A McDonald's double bacon cheeseburger, for instance, has 477 calories and 25 grams of fat.
