房子没买成：但是我一定得请老周喝酒
我们要买房了。
朋友老周是买房的专家，虽然他不是经纪，但大家说他比经纪专业得多。
我们把要求告诉了一位做经纪的朋友，他为我们查到了三间不同位置的House.
我们把打印出来的材料交给了老周。他一看便把一幢位于市中心的半独立屋排除在外了，他说这个区域是中国人集中的地区，而这幢房子的门牌是444号，以后Resale有问题的，所以别看现在它比旁边的房子便宜很多，以后你要卖出去也会碰到同样的问题，价格也要做相应的下调。因为这个区域不会有老外来买，而老外不在乎4，却在乎13。
我们一听觉得有道理，就不去那家看了。第二家在学院街附近。我们一起去看了，房东是华人，很热情。房子也比想像的好，二层，三十年新。一切都满意。老周提出去看看地下室。于是我们来到了地下室。老周见地下室水斗下面铺着一块地毯，于是顺手把地毯翻起来，发现下面很湿。于是问是否有渗水现象。房东说：有一点不严重。
告别那家，老周说，难怪卖得便宜，原来地下室渗水啊。这是一个很难解决的问题，用上海话说就是要“大劲拱”才能修好，花大钱了。于是我暗叹老周不是浪得虚名。
第三家在地铁沿线，布劳大街往东。那儿环境很好，多数住的是白人。但是这栋房子比以前出售的周围的房子整整便宜了五万，而且不断买卖的记录相当频繁。我们带着疑惑跟着老周去看个究竟。那天是Open House.一个白人经纪边打手机边把我们迎进屋。其实那天不太热。但门窗紧闭，楼上楼下都开着空调。我想可能洋人比较怕热，也没在意。
屋里有架便携式的收音机，在不断放送摇滚乐。而那经纪把我们撂在一边不断地大声打着手机。我看那房子的状况非常好，而且门窗楼梯都是柚木的,开价47万，实在不贵。老周提出看看花园，经纪说你们自己看吧，一会儿要来人看房，我不陪你们了。我们来到花园，那个花园收拾得十分漂亮，花团锦簇，我们一看就欢喜得不得了。但老周说你们安静一下，听。不久脚底下震动起来，一阵沉沉的声音传入鼓膜。我们一下子意识到下面是地铁线路！
于是我们回到房间，把收音机关了。一会儿我们听到了地铁滚滚而来的声音。
我们告别了经纪，他还没有讲完电话。挥挥手算是跟我们告别。
出得门来，老周说，他打手机开空调都是掩护。我们惊出了身冷汗。如果在这样的房子里生活我们恐怕连一天都过不下去，要知道这儿的地铁跟国内不同，上海的地铁11点以后就结束了，而这儿的地铁半夜两点还在运行。要是住在地铁上面生活我们天天如坐针毡，很快就会把房子卖了。我感谢老周的同时，问他，为什么当时挖地铁的时候这家房东同意地铁从他们家下面走过。老周说，可能是地铁线在房子建造之前就有了。
我说，老周明天你无论如何要来喝酒。他就是好这一口，欣然答应了。

作者请老周，不用花钱，就算是请老周喝小酒，也比请专业验房师省钱，买房绕开地产经纪人，也省钱！--------掉进钱眼的斤斤计较的典型上海小市民思维！

是有美国人在国外旅游时，背包上插加拿大旗子并模仿加拿大口音的（甚至有出书教授怎么学加拿大人说英文），主要是为了防止成为恐怖袭击的目标。
