HISTORIC HOMECOMING: China’s first female astronaut returns from mission为标题:历史性 回家:中国第一个女航天员,任务完成归来。
The space program is the longest and most challenging yet, a major step for the country’s ambitious program. The mission included both remote control 遥控 and piloted dockings with the module宇航员手控交会对接飞行器 and acts as part of preparations for a permanent space station为永久太空站做准备。

China's first manned space docking in June was a giant step for the country,他直接指出美国刻意低调处理其事:We were notably quieter about China's mission and downplay China's accomplishments at our own peril,低估中国的成就,只会对美国不利,虽然美国不需要再来一次太空竞赛,但千万不可以失去太空的龙头地位 We don't need another space race, but we must not lose our leadership in space。

It is time for expanded space cooperation and collaboration -- an effort the United States would lead, as it does today with the International Space Station program. Bring China into the international fold. This is how we can retain the leadership position. Otherwise, we risk falling behind。

Will China overtake America in space? China successfully achieved its first manned space docking with the launch of the Shenzhou 9 spaccraft神舟九号与天宫一号实现自动对接,显示中国已经进入成功载人,又同时操控宇宙飞行器,手控交会对接的阶段。 第二期现阶段的重点在于focuses on testing advanced technologies, like maneuvering and docking,试验高科技的操作,熟练而巧妙地移动宇宙飞船和连接飞行器 。第三期轮到envisions a large(about 20 tons, the size of Skylab) space station构建宇航员长期居留的大型太空站。

The real danger for the United States is in ceding space exploration and leadership to China because it lacks the political will to proceed at a steady, supportable pace。

If one believes that China and the United States are not inherentlyenemies假如相信中美根本不是敌人, then working together on space projects -- with technology transfer controls -- will benefit both countries.

If one believes that China is inherently a threat to the United States假如相信中国对美国有威胁, then the adage "keep your friends close and your enemies closer" comes to mind.

China certainly isn't shy about its heavenly ambitions. Beijing might seek to assert extraterrestrial territorial sovereignty, effectively declaring part of the moon's surface Chinese territory.

Beijing would probably require other motivations, such as access to natural resources. The moon has valuable deposits of resources like helium-3, as well as the kind of rare-earth metals that China has a near monopoly on Earth。

Scientists also say it might be possible to build a solar power station on the moon, collecting energy from the sun and transmitting it to Earth via microwaves.

Given China's terrestrial situation, a permanent moon base might also become militarily valuable。
